Why travel with us?
We set up Tadele Travel to share our knowledge of the country with people keen to experience not only the remarkable landscapes, wildlife and history of Ethiopia, but also the culture, warmth and hospitality of Ethiopians themselves.
For us, the foundation of designing journeys that achieve this is understanding local culture and values. All the experiences we offer respect the local people, customs, wildlife and natural environment of Ethiopia. They’re also all led by us, and at no stage in your journey will you be passed to another tour operator.
Girma is a wonderful guide and spent time explaining the surroundings. The churches in Lalibela were spectacular and I felt truly informed after my day with a wonderful local guide. I highly recommend this team as their knowledge of Ethiopia is deep and their attention to detail reassuring. I loved the whole experience!- Rachel Mansson, London
It is hard to imagine anyone with a greater knowledge and passion for the country and its people, which led to an unforgettable experience and a feeling of being more of a long-lost family visitor than a mere tourist. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tadele Travel for discovering the real Ethiopia- Andrew Roberts, Washington DC
We always think of Richard as family. He understands the country, speaks the language and knows how to get things done, which is not always easy in a place like Ethiopia. And everyone knows him too!- Haile Gebrselassie, Ethiopian double Olympic champion
Ethiopia is the perfect place to train and prepare for my big races. The new roads are excellent, the people here love cycling and the guys at Tadele Travel really understand the country and its cycling history. - Tsgabu Gebremariam Grmay, Pro Tour rider with Bahrain Merida
Ethiopia is a truly unique and beautiful place to ride a bike, with excellent roads, friendly people and incredible scenery. Richard was the perfect host for our trip, thanks to his intimate knowledge of the country and language, and I can't fault the quality of the ride support. It has to be one of the most memorable rides I've ever done.- Pete Muir, Editor, Cyclist Magazine
Ethiopia is a paradise for cyclists. The warmth of the climate is matched only by the warmth of the people. A holiday to Ethiopia will introduce you to an extraordinary history, fabulous landscapes, and a lively culture. Cycling is the best way to see the country and meet all kinds of people. You’ll feel safe and welcome as an honoured guest, and return home fitter and full of admiration for this amazing country and its diverse people.- Owen Barder, who has cycled 100s of kilometres in Ethiopia
Ethiopia makes you reach for over used words and I select "awesome" with no sense of shame. I fell in love with that land so conclusively that I have a photograph of the Simien Highlands as a screensaver so that I can stare every day at those bewitching mountains and valleys.- Joanna Lumley, The Nile
Although trekking in the Ethiopian highlands is not often described as a foodie experience, you can’t separate the sometimes startlingly fresh produce and local flavours from the experience itself, as Benjamin Allan discovered. I can’t remember what time it was when I arrived in Lalibela for the start of a ...
After returning from the 2000 Sydney Olympics with his second consecutive 10,000m gold medal, Haile Gebrselassie made plans to launch a race in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. His intention: give a platform to the next generation. Never could he have foreseen how enormous the Great Ethiopian Run would ...
