Mr. & Mrs. Sookia, June 2018 – from London
Pre-departure information was VERY good and well prepared with a lovely personal brochure showing our planned itinerary and general information about Ethiopia and other helpful practical facts. We enjoyed the wonderful churches, scenery and people we met in Lalibela. The market was amazing. Fikru (our VERY knowledgeable Guide) and Haymanot (our Driver) were both lovely, reliable and considerate. NOTHING was too much bother for either of them.
Again, Fikru was wonderful at all times and so hospitable as he invited us to lunch with his family which was over and above anything we had ever expected.
The Tukul Village Hotel was fantastic. Very comfortable, clean and beautiful with modern bathroom facilities. The views from our tukul were super. Lots of birds to see and hear. A real paradise. The Staff were so welcoming and helpful at all times and made our visit really special.
Go! Go! Go! An amazing country. We have already been singing the praises of Tadele Travel with family and friends and fully expect that they will be consulted to arrange a tailor-made tour in the near future.
Mr. & Mrs. Lister, May 2018 – from Oxford
Overall, very satisfied. All the drivers were friendly, helpful and considerate and the vehicles were clean, spacious and well maintained. Zeyede was great and showed remarkable skill and patience given the condition of the gravel roads and the wandering animals and pedestrians.
All guides provided by Tadele were very knowledgeable and personable plus being sensitive to what we may or may not have wanted to experience. We enjoyed their company.
Having Girma with us was a definite highlight – we felt a deeper connection to the people and places we visited as we had his knowledge, concern, enthusiasm and many friends/ family and acquaintances to enrich the experience. One example is the priest at the church in the hills near Lalibela letting us look at the ( hidden/ secret) holy book because Girma and he discovered a family connection.
For ” wow” factor, the churches of Lalibela and surrounds plus Gheralta stand out ( architecture, location, paintings) plus the palaces at Gonder but we also liked the fact that through the community walk and Simien trek were more in touch with the land and the pace of people’s ( and Gelada monkeys’) lives.
We loved the drama of the landscape as we travelled around plus coming across things like the caravan of camels. Given the high standard of our guides, we have come back with a lot more knowledge and appreciation of Ethiopia and its history.
Yes – Tadele Travel provides a very customised itinerary which covers most of the recommended sights but is focused on what you want to experience and supported by an in-depth and current knowledge of the country. When ” in situ”, the focus is on your enjoyment and there is the willingness and flexibility to adapt to cater for this.

Hotels were well chosen. Clean, and plenty of hot water. I thought our guide Masresha was excellent – very knowledgeable and very passionate about his subject.. He is also a nice guy to have around. The trip was well organised and communication was good. Very satisfied.

I felt very well prepared before left. All the transfers were excellent, with the vehicles and drivers waiting for us. I had great admiration for the way the drivers navigated in the traffic and road conditions. Mars was a wonderful guide and companion. He made a major contribution to the success of an excellent trip.

We had an absolutely amazing and wonderful time in Ethiopia. We were well cared for by generous and hospitable people who we hope to remain in contact with. The scenery was stunning and there were many occasions when the sights, sounds and loveliness of the people moved me to tears.
Girma is held in very high esteem by the guides in and around Lalibela which meant that they really cared that we had a good experience with them.
I can’t think of a better way of seeing village life in Ethiopia than by going on the community trek. It was the highlight of our trip.
I will definitely be recommending Tadele travel to my friends.

We are very thankful for the opportunities we had during the pilgrimage. Of particular note was the visit to Gonder with the group joining in the graduation ceremonies in the morning and the after visit to meet the Scholar of Scholars. Maybe my happiest memory is of the visit to Nakuta Laub monastery in Lalibela.Sefiw was a wonderful guide. It was a delight for him to share his love of Ethiopia with us and he gave us very many insights into the Orthodox Church. I am particularly thankful for his calmness even when things were not going to plan. I am confident that Tadele Travel would provide an excellent service to anyone wanting to travel to Ethiopia.

Ato Sefiw Hailemariam: He was absolutely fantastic. He made the tour. His knowledge and experience shone through everything he did. He was also helpful in arranging one or two alternatives if people were not able to do the main treck. It was full of highlights! This was a pilgrimage not a sight-seeing tour. So it was good to see the ancient places and learn about the orthodox beliefs and worship, but the main thing was to use this as a time of spiritual journey. For me that worked very well and I feel spiritually refreashed now I am home.

in LALIBELA we stayed at the Tukul Village hotel which was very pretty and had good wifi. The room was large, with a big bathroom – all was clean and free of bugs. We had a pretty balcony and the setting was charming. We ate breakfast there, but the wider menu wasn’t brilliant. In GONDAR we were guided by Bekele. He proved himself to be very knowledgeable, detailing many interesting facts about the churches, ancient sites and castles. He was also extremely helpful when my partner lost his debit card in an ATM machine; calling out 4 bank employees on a Saturday night to retrieve the card intact!
in LALIBELA we were guided by Kassahun. Kassahun was also very knowledgeable about the churches and sites there. We attended an early morning church service which was magical. He also took us to a traditional club, The Torpedo, were we drank and danced with locals, which was very enjoyable.Seeing the incredible sites of Ethiopia were definitely highlights; each church and holy site gave us new insights into the history of these edifices and we felt as if we’d been transported to biblical times. We felt immersed in the spirituality of the places we visited and uplifted by the sites and stories of the past. We felt in a way that in 2 weeks we merely scratched the surface of Ethiopia. Perhaps one day we’ll return, we’d love to visit Harar, Axum and the Danakil Depression as these places also hold incredible sites and experiences.I have already recommended Tadele Travel to a friend who is thinking of travelling to Ethiopia as I was extremely satisfied with the services, consideration of budget and flexibility that we were offered.Rosie & Martin – from UK
